Matteo Magli

Matteo Magli, born in 1990, began his musical studies at the “Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali G. Donizetti” in Bergamo and continued at the “Conservatorio G. Verdi” in Milan. He graduated in 2014 under the guidance of Alessandro Fossi at the “Conservatorio G. Rossini” in Pesaro, obtaining the highest degree in music education in Italy. Throughout his education, he participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Steve Rossé, Bob Tucci, Daniel Perantoni, Øystein Baadsvik, Roland Szentpali, and Gene Pokorny.

In 2016, Magli was appointed Principal Tuba of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai in Turin. Prior to this, he collaborated with several prestigious orchestras and opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala and Orchestra “La Verdi” in Milan, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and Orchestra Haydn in Bolzano. He has performed under the baton of esteemed conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Charles Dutoit, Gennady Rozdestvenskij, Neville Marriner, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Fabio Luisi, Myung-whun Chung, Semyon Bychkov, and Kirill Petrenko.

As an educator, Magli has conducted masterclasses throughout Italy and has given numerous recitals, both in duo with piano and accompanied by brass ensembles, performing in cities such as Bergamo, Pesaro, and Rome.

In addition to his role with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, he serves as a tuba teacher at the Conservatorio “G. Donizetti” in Bergamo.
