Rocco Rescigno

Rocco Rescigno began his musical studies at the Music School of Passons, Italy, under the guidance of Francesco Cossettini (trombone) and Claudio Zinutti (piano and organ). In 2011, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Trombone with highest honors from the J. Tomadini State Conservatory of Music in Udine, studying under Prof. Domenico Lazzaroni. He continued his education at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with professors Stefan Schulz, Andreas Klein, and Rainer Vogt, graduating in 2015 with distinction. In 2017, he was recognized as an outstanding student and is currently pursuing the Konzertexamen soloist program at the same institution.

From 2015 to 2017, Rescigno was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Since 2017, he has held the position of Principal Trombone with the Duisburger Philharmoniker and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with ensembles such as the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Central European Initiative Youth Orchestra, and the National Orchestra of Italian Conservatories. He has also worked with the radio orchestras of Cologne and Berlin, as well as various opera houses and orchestras across Germany.

In 2020, Rescigno was appointed Professor of Trombone at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, Germany. He is also active in contemporary music, serving as a soloist for the Risuonanze Festival, where he has premiered numerous works for solo trombone commissioned by the TKE association. He performs on instruments crafted by the Kromat company in Wilstedt, Germany.
